요15:1-8

"나는 참 포도나무요, 내 아버지는 농부이시다.

내게 붙어 있으면서도 열매를 맺지 못하는 가지는, 아버지께서 다 잘라버리시고, 열매를 맺는 가지는 더 많은 열매를 맺게 하시려고 손질하신다.

너희는, 내가 너희에게 말한 그 말로 말미암아 이미 깨끗하게 되었다.

내 안에 머물러 있어라. 그리하면 나도 너희 안에 머물러 있겠다. 가지가 포도나무에 붙어 있지 아니하면 스스로 열매를 맺을 수 없는 것과 같이, 너희도 내 안에 머물러 있지 아니하면 열매를 맺을 수 없다.

나는 포도나무요, 너희는 가지이다. 사람이 내 안에 머물러 있고, 내가 그 안에 머물러 있으면, 그는 많은 열매를 맺는다. 너희는 나를 떠나서는 아무것도 할 수 없다.

사람이 내 안에 머물러 있지 아니하면, 그는 쓸모 없는 가지처럼 버림을 받아서 말라 버린다. 사람들이 그것을 모아다가, 불에 던져서 태워 버린다.

너희가 내 안에 머물러 있고, 내 말이 너희 안에 머물러 있으면, 너희가 무엇을 구하든지 다 그대로 이루어질 것이다.

너희가 열매를 많이 맺어서 내 제자가 되면, 이것으로 내 아버지께서 영광을 받으실 것이다.

‘I am the true vine, and my Father is the vine-grower. 2He removes every branch in me that bears no fruit. Every branch that bears fruit he prunes* to make it bear more fruit. 3You have already been cleansed* by the word that I have spoken to you. 4Abide in me as I abide in you. Just as the branch cannot bear fruit by itself unless it abides in the vine, neither can you unless you abide in me. 5I am the vine, you are the branches. Those who abide in me and I in them bear much fruit, because apart from me you can do nothing. 6Whoever does not abide in me is thrown away like a branch and withers; such branches are gathered, thrown into the fire, and burned. 7If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask for whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. 8My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit and become* my disciples.

요일4:7-21

사랑하는 여러분, 서로 사랑합시다. 사랑은 하나님에게서 난 것입니다. 사랑하는 사람은 다 하나님에게서 났고, 하나님을 압니다.

사랑하지 않는 사람은 하나님을 알지 못합니다. 하나님은 사랑이시기 때문입니다.

하나님의 사랑이 우리에게 이렇게 드러났으니, 곧 하나님이 자기 외아들을 세상에 보내주셔서 우리로 하여금 그로 말미암아 살게 해주신 것입니다.

사랑은 이 사실에 있으니, 곧 우리가 하나님을 사랑한 것이 아니라, 하나님이 우리를 사랑하셔서, 자기 아들을 보내어 우리의 죄를 위하여 화목제물이 되게 하신 것입니다.

사랑하는 여러분, 하나님께서 이렇게까지 우리를 사랑하셨으니, 우리도 서로 사랑해야 합니다.

지금까지 하나님을 본 사람은 없습니다. 그러나 우리가 서로 사랑하면, 하나님이 우리 가운데 계시고, 또 하나님의 사랑이 우리 가운데서 완성된 것입니다.

하나님이 우리에게 자기 영을 나누어 주셨습니다. 이것으로 우리가 하나님 안에 있고, 또 하나님이 우리 안에 계시다는 것을 우리는 압니다.

우리는 아버지께서 아들을 세상의 구주로 보내신 것을 보았고, 또 그것을 증언합니다.

누구든지 예수를 하나님의 아들로 시인하면, 하나님이 그 사람 안에 계시고, 그 사람은 하나님 안에 있습니다.

우리는 하나님이 우리에게 베푸시는 사랑을 알았고, 또 믿었습니다. 하나님은 사랑이십니다. 사랑 안에 있는 사람은 하나님 안에 있고 하나님도 그 사람 안에 계십니다.

사랑이 우리에게서 완성되었다는 사실은 이 점에 있으니, 곧 우리로 하여금 심판 날에 담대함을 가지게 하려는 것입니다. 우리가 이렇게 담대해지는 것은, 그리스도께서 사신 대로 또한 우리도 이 세상에서 그렇게 살기 때문입니다.

사랑에는 두려움이 없습니다. 완전한 사랑은 두려움을 내쫓습니다. 두려움은 징벌과 관련이 있습니다. 두려워하는 사람은 아직 사랑을 완성하지 못한 사람입니다.

우리가 사랑하는 것은 하나님이 우리를 먼저 사랑하셨기 때문입니다.

누가 하나님을 사랑한다고 하면서, 자기 형제자매를 미워하면, 그는 거짓말쟁이입니다. 보이는 자기 형제자매를 사랑하지 않는 사람이 보이지 않는 하나님을 사랑할 수 없습니다.

하나님을 사랑하는 사람은 자기 형제자매도 사랑해야 합니다. 우리는 이 계명을 주님에게서 받았습니다.

7 Beloved, let us love one another, because love is from God; everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. 8Whoever does not love does not know God, for God is love. 9God’s love was revealed among us in this way: God sent his only Son into the world so that we might live through him. 10In this is love, not that we loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins. 11Beloved, since God loved us so much, we also ought to love one another. 12No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God lives in us, and his love is perfected in us.

13 By this we know that we abide in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit. 14And we have seen and do testify that the Father has sent his Son as the Saviour of the world. 15God abides in those who confess that Jesus is the Son of God, and they abide in God. 16So we have known and believe the love that God has for us.

God is love, and those who abide in love abide in God, and God abides in them. 17Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness on the day of judgement, because as he is, so are we in this world. 18There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear; for fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not reached perfection in love. 19We love* because he first loved us. 20Those who say, ‘I love God’, and hate their brothers or sisters,* are liars; for those who do not love a brother or sister* whom they have seen, cannot love God whom they have not seen. 21The commandment we have from him is this: those who love God must love their brothers and sisters* also.
