마 17:1-9; 약 1:12-15

그리고 엿새 뒤에, 예수께서는 베드로와 야고보와 그의 동생 요한을 따로 데리고서 높은 산에 올라가셨다. 그런데 그들이 보는 앞에서 그의 모습이 변하였다. 그의 얼굴은 해와 같이 빛나고, 옷은 빛과 같이 희게 되었다. 그리고 모세와 엘리야가 그들에게 나타나더니, 예수와 더불어 말을 나누었다. 그 때에 베드로가 예수께 말하였다. "선생님, 우리가 여기에 있는 것이 좋습니다. 원하시면, 제가 여기에다가 초막을 셋 지어서, 하나에는 선생님을, 하나에는 모세를, 하나에는 엘리야를 모시도록 하겠습니다." 베드로가 아직도 말을 하고 있는데, 갑자기 빛나는 구름이 그들을 뒤덮었다. 그리고 구름 속에서 "이는 내 사랑하는 아들이다. 나는 그를 좋아한다. 너희는 그의 말을 들어라" 하는 소리가 들려 왔다. 제자들은 이 말을 듣고서, 얼굴을 땅에 대고 엎드렸으며, 몹시 두려워하였다. 예수께서 가까이 오셔서, 그들에게 손을 대시고 말씀하셨다. "일어나거라. 두려워하지 말아라." 그들이 눈을 들어서 보니, 예수 밖에는 아무도 없었다. 그들이 산에서 내려올 때에, 예수께서 그들에게 명하셨다. "인자가 죽은 사람들 가운데서 살아날 때까지는, 그 광경을 아무에게도 말하지 말아라.“

Six days later, Jesus took with him Peter and James and his brother John and led them up a high mountain, by themselves. And he was transfigured before them, and his face shone like the sun, and his clothes became dazzling white. Suddenly there appeared to them Moses and Elijah, talking with him. Then Peter said to Jesus, ‘Lord, it is good for us to be here; if you wish, I* will make three dwellings* here, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.’ While he was still speaking, suddenly a bright cloud overshadowed them, and from the cloud a voice said, ‘This is my Son, the Beloved;* with him I am well pleased; listen to him!’ When the disciples heard this, they fell to the ground and were overcome by fear. But Jesus came and touched them, saying, ‘Get up and do not be afraid.’ And when they looked up, they saw no one except Jesus himself alone. As they were coming down the mountain, Jesus ordered them, ‘Tell no one about the vision until after the Son of Man has been raised from the dead.’

약 1:12-15

시험을 견디어 내는 사람은 복이 있습니다. 그 사람은 그의 참됨이 입증되어서, 생명의 면류관을 받을 것이기 때문입니다. 그것은 하나님을 사랑하는 사람들에게 약속된 것입니다. 시험을 당할 때에, 아무도 "내가 하나님께 시험을 당하고 있다" 하고 말하지 마십시오. 하나님께서는 악에게 시험을 받지도 않으시고, 또 시험하지도 않으십니다. 사람이 시험을 당하는 것은 각각 자기의 욕심에 이끌려서, 꾐에 빠지기 때문입니다. 욕심이 잉태하면 죄를 낳고, 죄가 자라면 죽음을 낳습니다.

Blessed is anyone who endures temptation. Such a one has stood the test and will receive the crown of life that the Lord* has promised to those who love him. No one, when tempted, should say, ‘I am being tempted by God’; for God cannot be tempted by evil and he himself tempts no one. But one is tempted by one’s own desire, being lured and enticed by it; then, when that desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin, and that sin, when it is fully grown, gives birth to death.
