누가 18:1-8 (9-14)

예수께서 제자들에게, 늘 기도하고 낙심하지 말아야 한다는 뜻으로 비유를 하나 말씀하셨다.

"어느 고을에, 하나님도 두려워하지 않고, 사람도 존중하지 않는, 한 재판관이 있었다.

그 고을에 과부가 한 사람 있었는데, 그는 그 재판관에게 줄곧 찾아가서, '내 적대자에게서 내 권리를 찾아 주십시오' 하고 졸랐다.

그 재판관은 한동안 들어주려고 하지 않다가, 얼마 뒤에 이렇게 혼자 말하였다. '내가 정말 하나님도 두려워하지 않고, 사람도 존중하지 않지만,

이 과부가 나를 이렇게 귀찮게 하니, 그의 권리를 찾아 주어야 하겠다. 그렇게 하지 않으면, 그가 자꾸만 찾아와서 나를 못 견디게 할 것이다.'"

주님께서 말씀하셨다. "너희는 이 불의한 재판관이 하는 말을 귀담아 들어라.

하나님께서 자기에게 밤낮으로 부르짖는, 택하신 백성의 권리를 찾아주시지 않으시고, 모른 체하고 오래 그들을 내버려 두시겠느냐?

내가 너희에게 말한다. 하나님께서는 얼른 그들의 권리를 찾아 주실 것이다. 그러나 인자가 올 때에, 세상에서 믿음을 찾아 볼 수 있겠느냐?"

1Then Jesus[a] told them a parable about their need to pray always and not to lose heart. 2 He said, “In a certain city there was a judge who neither feared God nor had respect for people. 3 In that city there was a widow who kept coming to him and saying, ‘Grant me justice against my opponent.’ 4 For a while he refused; but later he said to himself, ‘Though I have no fear of God and no respect for anyone, 5 yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will grant her justice, so that she may not wear me out by continually coming.’”[b] 6 And the Lord said, “Listen to what the unjust judge says. 7 And will not God grant justice to his chosen ones who cry to him day and night? Will he delay long in helping them? 8 I tell you, he will quickly grant justice to them. And yet, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?”
