예레미야5:1-2

"예루살렘에 사는 사람들아, 예루살렘의 모든 거리를 두루 돌아다니며, 둘러보고 찾아보아라. 예루살렘의 모든 광장을 샅샅이 뒤져 보아라. 너희가 그 곳에서, 바르게 일하고 진실하게 살려고 하는 사람을 하나라도 찾는다면, 내가 이 도성을 용서하겠다."

그들이 주님께서 살아 계심을 두고 맹세하고, 주님을 섬긴다고 말하지만, 말하는 것과 사는 것이 다르다.

1 Run to and fro through the streets of Jerusalem,

look around and take note!

Search its squares and see

if you can find one person

who acts justly

and seeks truth—

so that I may pardon Jerusalem.*

2 Although they say, ‘As the Lord lives’,

yet they swear falsely.

마1:12-16

예루살렘 주민이 바빌론으로 끌려간 뒤에, 여고냐는 스알디엘을 낳고, 스알디엘은 스룹바벨을 낳고,

스룹바벨은 아비훗을 낳고, 아비훗은 엘리야김을 낳고, 엘리야김은 아소르를 낳고,

아소르는 사독을 낳고, 사독은 아킴을 낳고, 아킴은 엘리웃을 낳고,

엘리웃은 엘르아살을 낳고, 엘르아살은 맛단을 낳고, 맛단은 야곱을 낳고,

야곱은 마리아의 남편 요셉을 낳았다. 마리아에게서 그리스도라고 하는 예수가 태어나셨다.

12 And after the deportation to Babylon: Jechoniah was the father of Salathiel, and Salathiel the father of Zerubbabel, 13and Zerubbabel the father of Abiud, and Abiud the father of Eliakim, and Eliakim the father of Azor, 14and Azor the father of Zadok, and Zadok the father of Achim, and Achim the father of Eliud, 15and Eliud the father of Eleazar, and Eleazar the father of Matthan, and Matthan the father of Jacob, 16and Jacob the father of Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom Jesus was born, who is called the Messiah.*
