눅 2:8-14

그 지역에서 목자들이 밤에 들에서 지내며 그들의 양 떼를 지키고 있었다. 그런데 주님의 한 천사가 그들에게 나타나고, 주님의 영광이 그들을 두루 비추니, 그들은 몹시 두려워하였다. 천사가 그들에게 말하였다. "두려워하지 말아라. 나는 온 백성에게 큰 기쁨이 될 소식을 너희에게 전하여 준다. 오늘 다윗의 동네에서 너희에게 구주가 나셨으니, 그는 곧 그리스도 주님이시다. 너희는 한 갓난아기가 포대기에 싸여, 구유에 뉘어 있는 것을 볼 터인데, 이것이 너희에게 주는 표징이다." 갑자기 그 천사와 더불어 많은 하늘 군대가 나타나서, 하나님을 찬양하여 말하였다. "더없이 높은 곳에서는 하나님께 영광이요, 땅에서는 주님께서 좋아하시는 사람들에게 평화로다.“

In that region there were shepherds living in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. Then an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid; for see—I am bringing you good news of great joy for all the people: to you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, who is the Messiah,* the Lord. This will be a sign for you: you will find a child wrapped in bands of cloth and lying in a manger.’ And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host,* praising God and saying, ‘Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace among those whom he favours!’*
