요21:1-19

그 뒤에 예수께서 디베랴 바다에서 다시 제자들에게 자기를 나타내셨는데, 그가 나타나신 경위는 이러하다. 시몬 베드로와 쌍둥이라고 불리는 도마와 갈릴리 가나 사람 나다나엘과 세베대의 아들들과 제자들 가운데서 다른 두 사람이 한 자리에 있었다. 시몬 베드로가 그들에게 말하기를 "나는 고기를 잡으러 가겠소" 하니, 그들이 "우리도 함께 가겠소" 하고 말하였다. 그들은 나가서 배를 탔다. 그러나 그 날 밤에는 고기를 한 마리도 잡지 못하였다. 이미 동틀 무렵이 되었다. 그 때에 예수께서 바닷가에 들어서셨으나, 제자들은 그가 예수이신 줄을 알지 못하였다. 그 때에 예수께서 제자들에게 물으셨다. "얘들아, 무얼 좀 잡았느냐?" 그들이 대답하였다. "못 잡았습니다." 예수께서 그들에게 말씀하셨다. "그물을 배 오른쪽에 던져라. 그리하면 잡을 것이다." 제자들이 그물을 던지니, 고기가 너무 많이 걸려서, 그물을 끌어올릴 수가 없었다. 예수가 사랑하시는 제자가 베드로에게 "저분은 주님이시다" 하고 말하였다. 시몬 베드로는 주님이시라는 말을 듣고서, 벗었던 몸에다가 겉옷을 두르고, 바다로 뛰어내렸다. 그러나 나머지 제자들은 작은 배를 탄 채로, 고기가 든 그물을 끌면서, 해안으로 나왔다. 그들은 육지에서 백 자 남짓밖에 떨어지지 않은 곳에 들어가서 고기를 잡고 있었던 것이다. 그들이 땅에 올라와서 보니, 숯불을 피워 놓았는데, 그 위에 생선이 놓여 있고, 빵도 있었다. 예수께서 제자들에게 말씀하셨다. "너희가 지금 잡은 생선을 조금 가져오너라." 시몬 베드로가 배에 올라가서, 그물을 땅으로 끌어내렸다. 그물 안에는, 큰 고기가 백쉰세 마리나 들어 있었다. 고기가 그렇게 많았으나, 그물이 찢어지지 않았다. 예수께서 그들에게 말씀하셨다. "와서 아침을 먹어라." 제자들 가운데서 아무도 감히 "선생님은 누구십니까?" 하고 묻는 사람이 없었다. 그가 주님이신 것을 알았기 때문이다. 예수께서 가까이 오셔서, 빵을 집어서 그들에게 주시고, 이와 같이 생선도 주셨다. 예수께서 죽은 사람들 가운데서 살아나신 뒤에 제자들에게 자기를 나타내신 것은, 이번이 세 번째였다. 그들이 아침을 먹은 뒤에, 예수께서 시몬 베드로에게 물으셨다. "요한의 아들 시몬아, 네가 이 사람들보다 나를 더 사랑하느냐?" 베드로가 대답하였다. "주님, 그렇습니다. 내가 주님을 사랑하는 줄을 주님께서 아십니다." 예수께서 그에게 말씀하셨다. "내 어린 양 떼를 먹여라." 예수께서 두 번째로 그에게 물으셨다. "요한의 아들 시몬아, 네가 나를 사랑하느냐?" 베드로가 대답하였다. "주님, 그렇습니다. 내가 주님을 사랑하는 줄을 주님께서 아십니다." 예수께서 그에게 말씀하셨다. "내 양 떼를 쳐라." 예수께서 세 번째로 물으셨다. "요한의 아들 시몬아, 네가 나를 사랑하느냐?" 그 때에 베드로는, [예수께서] "네가 나를 사랑하느냐?" 하고 세 번이나 물으시므로, 불안해서 "주님, 주님께서는 모든 것을 아십니다. 그러므로 내가 주님을 사랑하는 줄을 주님께서 아십니다" 하고 대답하였다. 예수께서 그에게 말씀하셨다. "내 양 떼를 먹여라. 내가 진정으로 진정으로 네게 말한다. 네가 젊어서는 스스로 띠를 띠고 네가 가고 싶은 곳을 다녔으나, 네가 늙어서는 남들이 네 팔을 벌릴 것이고, 너를 묶어서 네가 바라지 않는 곳으로 너를 끌고 갈 것이다." 예수께서 이렇게 말씀하신 것은, 베드로가 어떤 죽음으로 하나님께 영광을 돌릴 것인가를 암시하신 것이다. 예수께서 이 말씀을 하시고 나서, 베드로에게 "나를 따라라!" 하고 말씀하셨다.

Then Pilate took Jesus and scourged him. And the soldiers plaited a crown of thorns, and put it on his head, and arrayed him in a purple robe; they came up to him, saying, "Hail, King of the Jews!" and struck him with their hands. Pilate went out again, and said to them, "See, I am bringing him out to you, that you may know that I find no crime in him." So Jesus came out, wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robe. Pilate said to them, "Behold the man!" When the chief priests and the officers saw him, they cried out, "Crucify him, crucify him!" Pilate said to them, "Take him yourselves and crucify him, for I find no crime in him." The Jews answered him, "We have a law, and by that law he ought to die, because he has made himself the Son of God." When Pilate heard these words, he was the more afraid; he entered the praetorium again and said to Jesus, "Where are you from?" But Jesus gave no answer. Pilate therefore said to him, "You will not speak to me? Do you not know that I have power to release you, and power to crucify you?" Jesus answered him, "You would have no power over me unless it had been given you from above; therefore he who delivered me to you has the greater sin."

Upon this Pilate sought to release him, but the Jews cried out, "If you release this man, you are not Caesar's friend; every one who makes himself a king sets himself against Caesar." When Pilate heard these words, he brought Jesus out and sat down on the judgment seat at a place called The Pavement, and in Hebrew, Gab'batha. Now it was the day of Preparation of the Passover; it was about the sixth hour. He said to the Jews, "Behold your King!" They cried out, "Away with him, away with him, crucify him!" Pilate said to them, "Shall I crucify your King?" The chief priests answered, "We have no king but Caesar." Then he handed him over to them to be crucified. So they took Jesus, and he went out, bearing his own cross, to the place called the place of a skull, which is called in Hebrew Gol'gotha. There they crucified him, and with him two others, one on either side, and Jesus between them. Pilate also wrote a title and put it on the cross; it read, "Jesus of Nazareth, the King of the Jews."
