눅 3:15-17, 21-22

백성이 그리스도를 고대하고 있던 터에, 모두들 마음 속으로 요한에 대하여 생각하기를, 그가 그리스도가 아닐까 하였다. 그래서 요한은 모든 사람에게 대답하였다. "나는 여러분에게 물로 세례를 주지만, 나보다 더 능력 있는 분이 오실 터인데, 나는 그의 신발끈을 풀어드릴 자격도 없소. 그는 여러분에게 성령과 불로 세례를 주실 것이오. 그는 자기의 타작 마당을 깨끗이 하려고, 손에 키를 들었으니, 알곡은 곳간에 모아들이고, 쭉정이는 꺼지지 않는 불에 태우실 것이오."(15-17)

As the people were in expectation, and all men questioned in their hearts concerning John, whether perhaps he were the Christ, John answered them all, "I baptize you with water; but he who is mightier than I is coming, the thong of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie; he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire. His winnowing fork is in his hand, to clear his threshing floor, and to gather the wheat into his granary, but the chaff he will burn with unquenchable fire."

백성이 모두 세례를 받았다. 예수께서도 세례를 받으시고, 기도하시는데, 하늘이 열리고, 성령이 비둘기 같은 형체로 예수 위에 내려오셨다. 그리고 하늘에서 이런 소리가 울려 왔다. "너는 내 사랑하는 아들이요, 나는 너를 좋아한다.“

Now when all the people were baptized, and when Jesus also had been baptized and was praying, the heaven was opened, and the Holy Spirit descended upon him in bodily form, as a dove, and a voice came from heaven, "Thou art my beloved Son; with thee I am well pleased."(21-22)
