Mid-week Messenger
See, I am sending you out like sheep into the midst of wolves; so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves. Missed Last Week's Sermon? Listen or subscribe to audio of Pastor Steve's past sermons here: Family Promise Announcement Our church will be hosting for Family Promise from January 16 to 23. We need volunteers to bring dinners, spend the night, welcome back guests each day, set up and tear down. Sign up in the narthex this Sunday! Emily Monroy and Tad Frantz will be working together as coordinators for this hosting week. Email emilymonroy@gmail.com if you would like to sign up now or have any questions. Epiphany Services
The Armenian Apostolic Church - which is the new Cathedral in Burbank off of Glenoaks is holding services both on Wed. Epiphany Eve. (January 5, 2011 at 5:30pm to 7:30pm) and on Thursday the day of Epiphany (January 6, 2011 at 9:30am to 12:30pm). Epiphany is the celebration of Christ's appearance to the Gentiles (non-Jews) and is the major holiday in several Christian traditions. If you are interested in celebrating this event and learning more about the culture and tradition of many of our Burbank neighbors, I would encourage you to attend. Peace, Pastor Steve Be part of the BTAC Sack Lunch Bunch! This Saturday, January 8, we are preparing 125 lunches which will be distributed by the Burbank Temporary Aid Center (BTAC). Thanks to all who have signed up to bring food items. Some things are still needed: 125 pieces of fruit (apples or oranges are easy to pack), 3 cases of soft drinks, 25 dozen cookies, 1 box of 42-50 individual bags of potato chips. If you can help by donating some of these items, please let us know by calling (818-331-7871) or emailing us at cindacates5@gmail.com Again, we’ll be preparing the lunches 9-10 a.m. on Saturday, January 8th in the lower fellowship hall kitchen. Come, join the crew! Thank you for the help. Cinda and Steve Cates Your January BTAC coordinators Where Are My 2011 Offering Envelopes? Several people have asked about offering envelopes for the new year. We did not order any numbered and dated offering envelopes for 2011. However, we will continue to keep a record of your giving and send you an annual letter of receipt for tax purposes. You can use an envelope from the pew or one of last year’s leftover envelopes -- as long as your name or envelope number is on it, we can keep track. If you would like to begin using a giving number or if you have any questions, please ask me.
